Robert Keith “Bob” Johns, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Bob was a kind soul and one who was always available to lend a hand. A Jacksonville native, Bob was a friend to many, and his community was an important part of his identity. He was often found at an area ballpark where he once coached youth and legion teams. Baseball was a passion that he loved to share with any child who would listen, and he even coached his three boys and his grandchildren. He was a hard worker off the diamond too. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum/National Can for more than 25 years. More than anything, Bob cherished his family. He was married to his soul mate, Barbara, for 26 years. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children: Keith (Karri) Johns of St. Louis, Allison (Peter) Behringer of Jacksonville, Andy (the late Lisa) Johns of Jacksonville, Lance (Angie) Ferrelli of Jacksonville, and Amy (Patrick) Fairfax of Atlanta. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kathleene and Tripp Johns, Daniell Behringer, Landon Ferrelli, and Joey and Ashley Fairfax. One of nine children, Bob also leaves behind two brothers, a sister, and countless nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at 4:00 on Thursday, December 29 at Sweet Pete’s Candy, 400 N. Hogan Street in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Bob’s memory be sent to Walk Off Charities, which offers underserved youth the opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball.
